Designed by Mecanismo, responsible for the architecture and interior design of AKELARRE Hotel, the building was conceived in harmony with its setting on Monte Igueldo. Five stone volumes house the hotel’s 22 rooms, all facing the sea.
Stone, wood, metal and linen bring warmth to the interiors, while terraces and open views create a natural connection between the hotel and the Basque coast.

Each of AKELARRE Hotel’s 22 rooms and suites opens onto a private terrace with panoramic sea views. Spacious interiors and contemporary design create a quiet and private setting in which the landscape remains present throughout the stay.

From the Panoramic Junior Suites to the AKELARRE Suite Ocean with its private heated pool, each room offers its own perspective over the Basque coast.

AKELARRE’s story began with gastronomy. Pedro Subijana opened the restaurant on Monte Igueldo in 1970, and Akelarre Restaurant has held three Michelin stars since 2007.

Today, AKELARRE hotel and Akelarre restaurant form part of the same destination, bringing together five-star accommodation and three Michelin-starred gastronomy in San Sebastián.

Akelarre Spa brings wellbeing into the hotel experience through personalised treatments and spaces for rest overlooking the Bay of Biscay. Its connection with the landscape, natural light and privacy creates a calm setting within the hotel.

Set on the northern slope of Monte Igueldo, AKELARRE Hotel combines the tranquillity of the Basque coast with proximity to San Sebastián. The city centre is approximately 10 minutes away by car, while the hotel’s elevated position opens onto panoramic views of the Bay of Biscay.
