Akelarre was established in 1970, but it was not until 1975 that Pedro Subijana took the helm, achieving the highest distinctions in prestigious culinary guides and becoming part of Relais & Châteaux.
From there, we obtained 3 Michelin stars in 2007.
Thanks to our non-conformism and desire for perfection, we wanted to complement our restaurant offering with a complete accommodation experience, which resulted in the opening of our 5-star Hotel Akelarre and Espazio Oteiza restaurant and terraces in 2017.
Since 2001, we have been members of the Relais & Châteaux Association with the restaurant, and later incorporated the hotel.
